To safely stabilise two 13m high soil embankments with 40° slopes measuring 45 m and 30 m in length, on the underside of two apartment blocks at the ARV Woollahra in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.
Due to the sensitive nature of the works and the small amount of head room available it was decided that the entire project would be undertaken with hand held hydraulic breakers. A total of 206 Hulk HG 100 soil anchors with DSI thread bar tendons were installed at 1.5m centres to an effective depth of 5m. The Hulk earth anchors were tested to 120kN before being locked off at 75kN, once shotcreting was completed. This safety critical work was expedited over six phases with 2 crews. The Hulk percussion anchor system was chosen as the system of choice for this project as it was the only system to offer a comprehensive solution to the challenges at hand.
Backed with real know how by the people at AR+R the HULK mechanical ground anchors offered Buildabilty, ease of installation and a cost effective solution.
